i love reading old posts.

i was just bored and just randomnly looking at old posts but it is really amazing how the year can progress. in feb 2008, i was already supporting obama in the california primaries. i hadn't even had ap gov yet and hadn't been "swept" in the political chaos, but i was still into it. i remember i was talking with hanh and angelo on aim about politics but no one (myage) even gave a fuck at the time. and then i was listening to gabe bondac in a post in june/july 2008. and I MET HIM in october 2008.

life works in funny ways.

i just really like this intro song.

Wonder girls - Intro - Nobody (ballad version)

looking at old posts, my old self, makes me have hope for the future. that the year will turn out all right. i will remain the same, just older and more wise. 2009 is an exciting year, right?

im nothing but a sand castle

Agreed.

Senior year is love/hate year. A lot more hate though. Haha. Today I went to the big central library downtown and I love big libraries. Though I hate how you can never really go to the library expecting to stumble upon some good books. But I did find some good books to read. I am really addicted to non-fiction books about consumerism and the economy ever since I read Freakanomics. I haven't gone to the public library in two years since I got my first library card but I went with my mom and my sisters and we have found a new love in public libraries. The library near our home has a new building so we visited that one. I read probably less than ten books over break. I just read, watched tv, ate and slept. It felt good.

The books currently reading/about to read.

I checked out this photo essay book. It is a timeline of history of women who changed America.
I grew up reading women history thanks to those Dear America diaries and I used to love reading historical fictions when I was young. I really appreciate women in history. Looking at these photos and facts make me strive to be in a book like that. I want to be in the history books. These women are really heroes.

I am loving Solange and her music. It is definitely refreshing, happy, and colorful. She edited/did the music video herself for Sand Castle. I am not sure if she did the I decided one, but still they are great. She is really an artist. Both Knowles sisters are talented. I love Beyonce's new album too.

I went to the mall with my friends to buy a birthday present to sent to our friend in Korea. They don't have Aeropostale there and she loves Aeropostale so we bought her some stuff there. Personally, I do not really like Aeropostale but we got some nice stuff for her. I really do not like mall shopping but I love walking around the mall. It makes me reminiscene about my childhood. Like going to buy cinnabons at Cinnabon or visiting the Sanrio store or the Disney store. The mall has some good memories. But seriously, I can no longer buy clothes from there. But it was fun to shop around with friends. And I think UO is too overpriced. But cute. But overpriced.

We love trying on hats.
Fedoras do not look bad on me.
I need to invest in hats.

Interesting but hats from 1920s are becoming popular.
Those bowl cut, feather hats. I like them.
but not as flattering as fedoras.

Group picture.
May be the first and last together picture at mall.

And update on my little sister Sophie. She is growing faster and faster. She crawls everywhere now. Already five months. It is amazing. She will be walking in no time.

19 weeks before graduation. Augh.

what is happening to the world?

I was just watching What Would You Do? on ABC. It is this show where certain crazy situations are set up and hidden cameras and you get to see people's reactions. The first part of the episode I saw was about illegal immigrants. They set up an actor acting as a racist bigot behind the counter of a cafe and he has to serve to two Mexican workers. The Mexican workers only speak Spanish and they are trying to ask other customers to help them order. The guy behind the counter mocks them or he says "speak english!" or tells them they should go back to their country, they are here illegally, etc. It is absolutely appalling right? Well in the beginning, a lot of customers AGREED with the RACIST BIGOT behind the counter. One guy even told the workers they should just leave before he calls the police. And he was African-American. You would think he has had his fair share of discrimination that he would not want to see others treated the same way. But no, he is angry at them for not being able to speak a language. So these customers treat the workers this way, the reporter comes out and asks them WHY did they react that way. Some people responded that "oh they are here illegally, they are taking jobs away, etc". Blah, bull crap. Well the African-American guy said the same thing and he was personally angry that illegal immigrants are taking away jobs. But after half an hour of watching others do the same thing he did, he said he realized what he did was wrong and he would apolgize to those guys. Well, nice to know someone realized the wrong. But not everyone tolerated the actor's racism. Some people yelled at him, some told him how wrong he was, etc. A lot were so appalled they become emotional. It was really interesting to see the image of a good American heart.

Well during the show, the reporter took an actual Mexican labor worker, an illegal, to watch the hidden cameras with the crew. His story was that he wakes up at 5 am every day to walk two hours to stop where he waits with other Mexican men, hoping for a car to pick them up for a job. I am not unfamiliar with those kind of stops. We have them in Sacramento. I've seen the large lines of Mexican men. My dad has even been there to pick guys up to help us move houses. Well watching how ignorant and mean people were being, the labor worker said he was very sad and he almost wanted to cry. He said how sad it was for people to not see that they were human beings and how hard they worked. It was really sad. I was bawling when he was talking about it.

I was so appalled about how mean people can be and I would really hate myself if I ever acted that way. About 88 people walked in the store. 49 DID NOT HELP the MAN. 9 of those 49 agreed with the man behind the counter. 39 however, helped the Mexican guys. I know sometimes when we are scared of being put in an awkward situation or scared of talking to people who don't know English, we can act angry or ignore the problem, but we should not be afraid to help others. We really should not. We can not complain about the ignorant if we ourselves ignore the comments of the ignorant.

Here is a clip of another What Would You Do?
It is about kids beating up a homeless man

A show premiering today that I am absolutely amazed about is Homeland Security USA. It documents what goes on for border patrol and international airports. It really gives the American people an eye to what they have been complaining about. It shows the heroes of the USA who do not get recognized, who risk their lives, and who have to deal with so much crap. People should stop complaining about the border patrol because they do a lot more than you think. The show showed a lot of people trying to smuggle drugs into the country. Another was capturing some people trying to smuggle people into the country. there was this stupid Asian guy who was coming back from Mexico HOLDING marijuana pipes at the airport. He could not bring them to America and he was like "so will someone pay for it? can i just put it in my bag?". Such a dumbass. He was like man I should have just put it in my pocket. The officiers were like then you would have been fined for smuggling. But overall, I really enjoyed the show. It was pretty cool. ABC, Tuesdays at 10 pm. WATCH IT!!!

I had just saw this article on aol.com (my mom's homepage for some reason) and it made me think how bad this economic recession is. It is really a GLOBAL DEPRESSION. The article was about how a German billionaire suicided by stepping in front of a train over his financial losses. He isn't the first European billionaire to suicide. It makes me think that this is not such an easy fix. And I get mad when I see Donald Trump on tv, trying to promote how people can get rich off of this recession. That is the reason we are in a recession, so many people trying more than their share. It is ridiciulous. Screw you Donald Trump! you and your stupid comb over.

On a happier note, I watched Mamma Mia with my sister over break and I am addicted to the soundtrack. The movie was not my taste. I think it was more for old people to me. It was more of a Meryl Streep-Pierce Brosan romance that was thoroughly gross for me. They are old. Well Meryl Streep is old... Pierce Brosan is still a hottie for his age. But I LOVE the songs. Especially Amanda Seyfried's voice. She is amazing.

I love/hate how there are so many talented people on youtube. My friend showed me this one girl who can really rock the ukulele. Her videos make me feel happy. This is a cute video. She is talented.

I am trying to achieve my new year resolution. Looking back at the posts, we have gotten lazy. I want to make this blog fun again. Instead of complaining about my life! haha.

hello two-thousand-and-nine.

Wow to think it is already 2009. Freaking crazy as hell. This year holds up so many expectations already. It is kind of scary and sad at the same time. But happy. Happy because this is truely going to be a new year full of SCARY NEW THINGS.

This is the year of senior ball, graduations, college admission letters, buying college dorm stuff, new friends, etc. Before it was midnight, I was talking to Michelle and we were awfully scared about the new year. We are not exactly ready to be thrown out in the world. But looking back now, I think we may or may not be ready but I know we can survive. Pachia and I always talk about how it is so crazy how the years have past by but I know we are excited as much as we are scared. I think the world needs to get ready for us, because we are finally coming out.

I am pretty happy because I just finished my LAST APPLICATION. ALL MY COLLEGE APPLICATIONS ARE DONE. It is a miracle. I am glad it is damn over. I've been worrying about my applications all winter break. I hope I get into somewhere. At least I have states for backup haha.

oh yes, happy 1st year anniversary of our blog. I am glad we actually kept up with this thing. It is amazing we did. I know we both do not stay committed to these types of online journal/blogging things long but I think we have tried as best as we could to be committed to this one. Even though we have been writing less and less. We used to have like 20-30 posts for a month. Now we have like five, haha. But I promise I will do more. We are just both busy and lazy. But I promise to write more because I don't want to forget anything. I want to preserve our memories in these pages. I suck at diaries so this is as close to a diary as it can be for me.

new years resolutions
  1. write more in our blog, write more interesting things, more intellecutual things
  2. do not get senioritis. you are almost there but you will not get that virus
  3. get a license (i am sad i know, almost eighteen too)
  4. make good memories with everyone, even those you are not close to because it could be the last
  5. get another job (that one will be hard)
  6. even though you are reluctant, grow up. cant be like peter pan forever
  7. learn how to be more adult
  8. accept life as it is, never be bitter
  9. don't forget your optimism.
hopes and dreams for 2009
  1. getting into a college i will be happy with
  2. throw that rave party for my 18th birthday
  3. a senior ball date
  4. a junior prom date, i said i would go so i will go!
  5. keeping in touch with the people i care about
  6. going on a road trip with friends
  7. lets go to disneyland!!!!
  8. a great summer as great as 08
  9. crying less, stressing less
  10. be more daring, regretting less

I think this year is going to be great. I really do. Just as great as 2008.

---edit---

I saw my other blog friends doing this so I will do this too. I need to see if I accomplished any of my resolutions last year.

CK's RESOLUTIONS:
  1. Stop taking naps (it ruins your sleeping pattern!)
  2. Figure out what colleges you might want to apply to
  3. Drink milk
  4. Stop slouching (could cause later back problems and stunt your growth even more)
  5. Stop having freak-outs about school.(optional)
So I don't really drink as much milk. But I do drink some. I probably still slouch. And of course I cannot stop having freak-outs. But I think less dramatically as last year. And I have stopped taking a lot of naps during the school year because I was working and man I would be in trouble if I did not figure out what colleges I would be applying to. Good Job CK for 2008.

* happy anniversaryyyy

it's crazy how it's already been an entire year since we started this blog! and its sad that christina and i couldn't spend new years together like we did last year. but last night i spent some time going through all of our posts throughout the year, and we've definitely grown and changed. i'm soooo glad we made this blog, because it's going to be really fun going through all of our old posts when we're old and in college and no longer teenagers anymore.

i didnt really do anything for new years. my family went to sleep early, and i stayed up doing my common app for stanford and finishing a 2008 bulletin quiz on myspace. yippeeeee... and then i went to sleep rejected as my drunk bf hung up on me twice :| but it's okay.

i did spend christmas in fresno with the family though, and that was nice. i love kidddddies, especially my little cousins who are so adorable.

hopefully 2009 will be just as fun as 2008. my resolutions are simple this year: get into college, keep my grades up, find a job!!!!

Happy New Years!!! :)
